In association with the Northern Light Cruising Co Ltd. A ten-night wildlife expedition cruise, based on live-aboard motor vessel Hjalmar Bjørge, with a maximum of ten passengers, departing Oban.
On this cruise we expect to visit the remote islands of North Rona and Sula Sgeir, famous for their Leach’s petrels and northern gannets, respectively. We will also be sailing through some rich feeding areas for whales and dolphins. The exact itinerary will be determined by local conditions and the discretion of the skipper. Chris Gomersall will be sailing as your expedition leader, wildlife guide and photography mentor.
This holiday is aimed at people with a love of the Scottish landscape, culture, wildlife, and slow travel, and while we expect there to be some unique photo opportunities during the course of the cruise, please note this is not a dedicated photography workshop. Our ship is a former Norwegian rescue vessel, now fitted with stabilisers and sympathetically converted for live-aboard cruising. Each evening we will find a sheltered anchorage to spend the night, most likely in a a quiet sea loch. All our meals are taken on board ship, but maybe with packed lunches for longer shore excursions.
